WEEK 6: SMP32103 SERVICES MARKETING (SULAM)

WEEK 6: DISCUSSION

On week 6, the five of us held a preliminary discussion session to discuss the selection of a suitable homestay to be the main subject of our project. This important session was conducted online via the Google Meet platform, as all group members were still at home and participating in classes remotely due to the academic arrangements at that time. The online meeting allowed us to engage effectively despite the physical distance, and each member actively participated in the discussion with enthusiasm.

The homestay selection process required careful and meticulous consideration, as we needed to ensure that the chosen location would meet our project objectives. Several key factors were taken into account, including strategic location, available facilities, cleanliness, affordability, and most importantly the willingness and cooperation of the homestay owner to work together and provide information throughout the project period. This process was not easy, as each of us had different suggestions and it took time to evaluate potential options based on those criteria.

During the discussion, our group leader, Nurul Kamelia, took the initiative to propose a practical and efficient approach. She suggested that each group member take the responsibility of contacting homestay owners they knew or had access to, to get initial feedback and approval regarding their involvement in the project. This suggestion was well received by all members and unanimously agreed upon. Without delay, we started contacting various homestay operators via phone calls, WhatsApp messages and emails to explain the purpose of our project and to gauge their interest in participating.

In the same session, we also discussed the distribution of tasks among the group members to ensure smooth project management. Specific responsibilities were assigned, such as preparing individual and group logbooks, drafting the main project report, arranging field visits, and managing data collection. Each member agreed to their roles and showed a high level of commitment and responsibility for the assigned tasks.

Throughout the meeting and in the following days, we maintained clear communication and mutual support, which significantly enhanced our teamwork. The spirit of cooperation shown by everyone was commendable, as each member not only completed their tasks but also offered assistance to others when needed. This early stage of our project has reflected strong bonds, leadership, and a sense of direction within the group, all of which are essential to ensuring the success and overall quality of our project deliverables.
